Frosts, Cluffs, Richards & Peirsons . . .

Above is a picture of Grandmother & Grandad from Aunt Kitty's collection. It's of Alice Bell Frost & Ellis Mills Frost, M.D., with Bob (Robert Ellis Frost) and Betty (Mary Elizabeth Frost), taken in Pittsburgh in 1920.

Richard came a couple of years after Bob, but at age 3, or thereabouts, he was bitten by the Mother of the puppies in the picture. But the Mother was then destroyed too quickly to make a conclusive rabies check, so Grandfather Frost was forced to administer the full batteries of rabies shots to Richard, a procedure that killed Richard and became a source of guilt for my Grandad which he never mentioned, but from which he probably never fully recovered. I was named for Richard.
